En sortant de l'école - Famous French poems animated
Enchanting short films as a homage to poetry
filmfriend presents a collection of his favourite short films: (re)discover the poetry of Paul Verlaine, Robert Desnos, Claude Roy, Paul Éluard, Guillaume Apollinaire, Jacques Prévert and Jean Tardieu.
These short films are magnificent tributes to poetry. In each film, a voice reads a poem, accompanied by an animated story inspired by the text.
The title of the collection chosen by the producers, "En sortant de l'école" ("Fresh out of school"), echoes a poem by Jacques Prévert. The school in question is the one from which the young filmmakers have just left who present here their universe. They chose a poem and then presented a graphic and sound project based on it. After a selection process, the successful candidates were able to participate in a writing residency and work in animation studios. Each year, a dozen short films are made around a particular poet.
This collection will appeal to poetry lovers who want a new look at their favourite poems; to beginners, especially children, who want to discover poetry in a different and refreshing way; and to students of French who can benefit from this recited and illustrated format. These different interpretations will seduce you, enlighten you and stimulate your imagination.
